The amount one should spend on road cycling gear depends on their budget, level of commitment to the sport, and specific needs. For beginners or casual riders, a basic road bike and essential gear such as a helmet, cycling shorts, and a water bottle can be purchased for a few hundred dollars. More serious cyclists or those looking for higher quality equipment may choose to invest in a higher-end road bike, performance clothing, clipless pedals, and other accessories, which could cost several thousand dollars. Ultimately, the amount spent on road cycling gear should align with one's personal preferences and financial resources. **

Gear shifting on a road bike is typically controlled by two shifters located on the handlebars. The right shifter controls the rear gears, which are responsible for major adjustments in resistance, while the left shifter controls the front gears, which provide finer adjustments. By pushing or pulling the shifters, the bike's chain is moved onto different gears, either making it easier or harder to pedal depending on the desired resistance level. Riders can shift gears to maintain an optimal cadence and efficiency while riding on varying terrains. **

Road cyclists typically follow the rules of the road, obeying traffic signals and signs, and riding in the same direction as traffic. They also tend to ride in a single file line, especially on narrow roads, to allow cars to pass safely. Cyclists often use hand signals to indicate their intentions to turn or stop, and they are generally aware of their surroundings, looking out for potential hazards and communicating with other road users. Additionally, many road cyclists wear bright, reflective clothing and use lights to increase their visibility, especially in low-light conditions. **

One common issue with the Shimano 105 road bike gear system is that some users have reported issues with the front derailleur not shifting smoothly between gears. This can result in chain rub or difficulty shifting, especially when transitioning between the small and large chainrings. Additionally, some riders have found that the gear changes can be slightly less precise compared to higher-end groupsets, leading to occasional mis-shifts. Overall, while the Shimano 105 gear system is a solid mid-range option, it may not offer the same level of performance and smoothness as more expensive groupsets. **

Yes, a reverse gear on a motorcycle is allowed on the road. Some motorcycles, particularly those designed for touring or for riders with physical limitations, are equipped with a reverse gear to help with parking or maneuvering in tight spaces. These motorcycles are legal for road use as long as they meet all other requirements and regulations. However, reverse gears are not common on standard motorcycles and are typically found on specific models or as aftermarket modifications. **

The lifespan of an Ice Tech brake disc on a road bike can vary depending on factors such as riding conditions, maintenance, and riding style. Generally, with proper care and maintenance, an Ice Tech brake disc can last for several thousand miles. However, it is important to regularly inspect the brake disc for wear and tear, and replace it if there are signs of significant wear or damage. Additionally, riding in wet or muddy conditions can accelerate the wear of the brake disc, so it's important to clean and maintain the disc regularly to prolong its lifespan. **

The terms "street" and "road" are often used interchangeably, but there is a subtle difference between the two. A street typically refers to a public road in a city or town that has buildings on either side, while a road is a broader term that can refer to any public thoroughfare for vehicles, including highways, freeways, and rural routes. Ultimately, the choice between using "street" or "road" depends on the specific context and location being described. **
